Undersubscribed Courses

The desired minimum for a scheduled course is 6 credit students. A scheduled course is one which is advertised in our Final Course Offerings schedule. We do issue Projected Course offerings schedules. The Seminary has the right to withdraw courses from the Projected Course Offerings without obligation depending on enrollment.

When a scheduled course has fewer than six credit students enrolled, the Academic Dean determines whether the class will convert to a Directed Study.

  1. If the faculty member is a regular MB Biblical Seminary faculty member and is teaching the course within their annual load, the class may proceed as a regular class regardless of size. Or, if the class becomes a directed study, the professor may be asked to assume other duties in light of the reduced load represented by that directed study. In courses that are converted to directed studies listed on the Final Course Schedule, the regular tuition rates and financial aid will apply.
  2. If the faculty member is an adjunct faculty member, the class may be converted to a directed study, a student may withdraw from the class, or the faculty member may opt not to teach it. In courses that are converted to directed studies listed on the Final Course Schedule, the regular tuition rates and financial aid will apply. Professors in such cases will however be remunerated at the rate of one half of the Directed Study tuition rate.
